UFC 268 DraftKings Breakdown
Kamaru Usman (c) 9300 vs. Colby Covington 6900 for Usman's UFC Welterweight championship
Usman will obviously be a popular DraftKings play. At 9300 he is expensive, but I think you might need him. I expect him to use some wrestling in this fight and his striking has really improved under Trevor Whitman. Usman is going to score big
Colby throws a ton of volume. He will be popular for an underdog. I won’t be playing him, but if you are on team Colby and think he wins this fight then definitely play him. If he beats Usman he will probably be on the optimal lineup
Rose Namajunas (c) 8200 vs. Zhang Weili 8000 for Namajunas' UFC Women's Strawweight championship
Both of these girls come to fight and we have seen both of them score very highly on DraftKings. At their price I think they are both worth plays. They throw a ton of volume and as we saw last time they fought the path to finish is there as well. I will probably have a piece of this fight in just about every lineup
Justin Gaethje 8900 vs. Michael Chandler 7300; Lightweights
Gaethje is always an exciting fighter and exciting fighters usually score on DraftKings. He’s scored over 100 points in multiple fights and has even scored around 50 points in two of his losses. Against a guy like Chandler there is definitely the opportunity for knockdowns and a knockout. He throws a ton of strikes and landed 143 against Tony Ferguson. I expect him to be extremely popular. I will be under the field on gaethje, but will def still have ownership
The reason I’m going to be a little lower on gaethje is because I will be a little above the field with Chandler. I really see the path to knockout here and Chandler is just so fast and athletic. I also think he will have the wrestling advantage. That is too many paths for a 7300 fighter. He opens a lot of doors and if he wins it will most likely be a finish
Shane Burgos 9000 vs. Billy Quarantillo 7200 Featherweights
Burgos is another fighter I think will be popular. People love him. My ownership on Burgos will be very low. He may be the better boxer and he def will be the bigger fighter, my problem with him is he takes so much damage in fights and I think that may have caught up with him after that loss to Barboza.
Billy Q is a great fighter to target for DraftKings. His price is great, he’s aggressive, likes to put a pace on his opponent and mixes in takedowns. Billy q will probably be popular but he is chalk I will be using. Can always differentiate in other ways
Frankie Edgar 7400 vs. Marlon Vera 8800; Bantamweights
I want to take Frankie so bad. He has excellent boxing, good wrestling and is tough as hell. His style has not always translated to DraftKings points, even in his wins and I don’t think he wins this fight. I’m staying away
Vera is someone that I’m not sure how ownership will go. Has a decent name but he isn’t a DraftKings scorer either. People may play him because they are fading Edgars chin. I think this fight goes the distance and I don’t think either fighter makes the optimal lineup
Alex Pereira 9100 vs. Andreas Michailidis 7100 Middleweights
Alex Pereira is a freak. He is super strong and he may have the best striking in the UFC now. He beat Adesanya twice in kick boxing and even knocked him out. This is a set up fight for him to win. He will be highly owned, but you should own him too. I expect an early ko here
I won’t be high on Michailidis, but I see the path. He stated he wants to test Alex Pereira on the ground an d that is exactly what you want to hear. He very well might have a huge ground advantage and if Pereira isn’t ready for that he may get subbed. Maybe take a 1-10 shot on Michailidis. Under the field, but still sprinkle him in some lineups
Al Iaquinta 7600 vs. Bobby Green 8600; Lightweights
Want no part of raging al. He has been away from the sport for a long time and was never a big DK scorer anyways.
Bobby Green isn’t much of a DK scorer either, but I do like how he’s been talking about this fight and his fight career in general. He wants to work on his legacy and a knockout could do it. Green has always been talented, Al has been away for a while, I could see a world where Green gets a finish
Phil Hawes 9400 vs. Chris Curtis 6800 Middleweights
Phil Hawes has big power and holds a wrestling advantage over everyone he fights. Chris Curtis is super tough and I’m not sure he will be able to put him away early. That is the only way he lives up to his 9400 price tag. I think he may be sneaky low owned so you will want some exposure, but he’s not my favorite play.
Chris Curtis is a great fighter. He has been around forever and has always trained with the best. He has only ever lost to very very high level comp and he even had his moments in those fights. I don’t think he wins here, but if he does it will be a late finish and he could be on the optimal lineup. His striking is legit and he’s very tough, never gasses.
Edmen Shahbazyan 7700 vs. Nassourdine Imavov 8500 Middleweights
Edmen is a guy that I love. He has his holes, but he is working hard to shore them up. He hits very hard and throws great kicks (ask Brad Tavares) he has been putting in some work at AKA and even told Islam he would see him in dagastan soon. I like that a lot. Imavov is Russian, but he’s not a wrestler. Edmen could use a grappling heavy approach and win this easy. If he does he will score a lot. I do expect him to be high owned though
Imavov looked amazing in his last fight. His nickname is the sniper and for good reason. He hits really hard and he will most likely have the striking advantage here. He can very easily win this by ko and he will be low owned
Ian Garry 9500 vs. Jordan Williams 6700 Welterweights
Gian Villante 7900 vs. Chris Barnett 8300 Heavyweights
Heavyweight Villante is not someone I am interested. Not willing to put money on a guy who is too lazy to give himself the best chance to win. He also said this is his retirement fight. No Bueno
Chris Barnett is someone who loves to fight and gets judged a little to harshly on his looks. He is super athletic and has fast hands. I think he can finish here. Love Barnett as a bet and dk play.
Dustin Jacoby ???? vs. John Allan 7800 Light Heavyweights
Jacoby has looked so good recently. He has big power and can def turn the lights out. He may go high owned and I’m not sure I like him. His style doesn’t always produce dk points, he’s taking this on short notice and John Allan is decently tough. I’m staying away
John Allan is someone I definitely don’t like. Only thing going for him is he will have like 0 percent ownership so if that entices you I get it
melsik baghdasaryan ??? vs bruno souza ???
LOVE Melsik. He is an exciting striker. He’s big and long and hits hard as shit. Really think he gets the knockout here. Probably round 1
Bruno should be low owned and he is machidas guy. Doesn’t excite me. I’m not taking him
CJ Vergara 7500 vs. Ode' Osbourne 8700; Flyweights
Vergara is real tough and he won me money on the contender series. He’s a good striker and hits hard. Throws great knees and it got him a first round finish on contender series. His normal style is not the quick finish. He usually batters his opponents and finishes them late. That’s his path here. Let ode slow down and capitalize on a questionable chin. I will def have some ownership
Ode is someone I’m liking more and more as we get closer to fight time. He’s tall, athletic, hits hard and has excellent subs. Most likely out come is round 1 finish. Very high on Ode for DraftKings
